Sports Injury, Shoulder & Robotic Joint Replacement SurgeonRole

An injured knee or shoulder should end up doing what you need it to do — back on the field, back up the stairs — not just look better on a scan. That means an honest diagnosis first, rehabilitation done properly, and surgery only where it genuinely changes the result.

About Dr. Atul Keswani

Dr. Atul Keswani completed his MS in Orthopaedics.

He went on to complete fellowships in sports medicine and joint replacement at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, Pune, trained in arthroscopy at Sporthopaedicum in Germany — a FIFA referral centre for sports injuries — and completed a shoulder surgery fellowship at the University of Cattolica in Italy, covering shoulder arthroscopy and shoulder replacement. His practice focuses on shoulder and sports injuries and on robotic joint replacement.

A consultation starts with the story of the injury and a hands-on examination; scans are used to confirm, not to replace, what the examination shows. Many sports injuries settle with a structured rehabilitation programme, and that is always tried where it can work. Where a ligament, meniscus or rotator cuff needs repair, keyhole (arthroscopic) techniques are used wherever possible, with a rehabilitation plan set out from day one and a return to activity that is judged by function, not by the calendar.
